A Timeless Americana Sound

Blending rich acoustic piano textures, heartfelt storytelling, and vintage warmth, Abbey Road Impressions bridges the gap between classic classic-rock sensibility and modern Americana songwriting. It serves as a grounded, soulful reminder of the everyday choices that build our shared reality.

— Interview with Austin Sher:

Abbey Road Impressions

Alex Otey’s latest Americana album is an inspired work based on one of the most iconic recording studios in the world – Abbey Road Studios.

Having traveled to London in late 2019 to track ideas for the music for a new album and to gain inspiration from this amazing studio, plans to return to London in 2020 were met with a global pandemic. A year later a studio in Boston reached out and asked if there were any projects they could assist with. By late 2021 efforts to build this album got underway, but starting to record the album ran into further delays. Through steady perseverance and pure devotion, this project has finally come to life!

Mastering of Abbey Road Impressions at Abbey Road Studios was finally complete in 2026!

** Much has happened since the inception of the concept of this album, including Artificial Intelligence. This music began in the pre-AI era of music, reaching back in time, while being fresh & inspiring for today’s listeners!

Real Music for Real People by Real People!

Rooted in the timeless sound of an era when music spoke directly to the soul, Abbey Road Impressions is a deeply personal concept album born from Otey’s pilgrimage to the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. Channeling the history, magic, and creative spirit of the world’s most famous recording landmark, the album takes listeners on an evocative journey through the human experience—mapping the choices, challenges, and quiet revelations that define our lives.

Blending rich acoustic textures, heartfelt storytelling, and vintage warmth, Abbey Road Impressions bridges the gap between classic classic-rock sensibility and modern Americana songwriting. It serves as a grounded, soulful reminder of the everyday choices that build our shared reality, with songs reflecting:

Abbey Road – Inspiration: A tribute to the iconic studio where history and memories live.

World You Show Me – Observation: Taking in the beauty and complexity of the surrounding world.

Yeah, We’re Going – Traveling: The excitement, restless energy, and motion of the open road with an exciting destination ahead.

Anna Lee – Love: An exploration of devotion, connection, and tenderness with love lost.

She Would Stay – Fear: Facing vulnerability, uncertainty, with the impulse to question another’s motives.

Love Coming Through – Helping Others: A heartfelt reminder of caring, community, and outstretched hands framed in a bluesy way.

This Very Day – Appreciation: Coming full circle to gratitude and present-moment awareness as a summation to the album journey.

Album Review by C. Gordon Gifford, Boston Music & Linguistics

Abbey Road Impressions impresses! Delightful! When an artist sets out to capture the essence of Abbey Road Studios, the primary risk is getting trapped in pure nostalgia. Yet Alex Otey’s Abbey Road Impressions avoids this trap by bridging analog warmth with modern sonic architecture. Tracked across continents and finalized at Abbey Road in 2026, the album serves as a compelling study in how traditional craftsmanship and organic instrumentation evolve in a high-tech recording era.

From the concrete-highway rhythms of “She Would Stay”—where the cadence mimics the vintage badump of expansion joints—to the Beatlesque vocal textures and smooth Spanish phrasing in “Anna Lee,” Otey constructs a vivid sonic narrative. Highlights like “World You Show Me” and the Dr. John-infused brass on “This Very Day” demonstrate a masterful balance of organic calm, tight vocal syncopation, and expansive keyboard arrangements. Abbey Road Impressions stands as a grounded, forward-looking exploration of Americana rooted in iconic musical history, a captivating and intraspective Americana album that artistically expresses emotions we all experience!
